Charles Zamora
About
Charles Zamora is the managing partner and founder of Zamora & Hogan Co., L.P.A., the successor to Charles Zamora Co., L.P.A., which he started in 2003. A graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio and the University of Akron School of Law, Chuck is a published member of the Akron Law Review. Chuck has been in private practice since 1995 and previously worked as an Assistant Ohio Attorney General, representing the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services (OBES) in defense litigation before the Unemployment Compensation Review Commission, the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, and the State Personnel Board of Review. He represented OBES at all state court levels in Ohio, as well as before the U.S. District Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit.
Chuck also worked in the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, where he represented the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and the Industrial Commission of Ohio and was responsible for defending the BWC and Industrial Commission in hundreds of ongoing lawsuits in the Courts of Common Pleas (the major trial court in Ohio), the Courts of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of Ohio. Chuck’s experience includes about a dozen first chair jury trials, and about a hundred appellate and mandamus cases filed, briefed, and argued in virtually every Appellate District in Ohio, including the Ohio Supreme Court.
In 1999, Chuck was among the first 144 attorneys in the State of Ohio to become a “Certified Specialist” by the Ohio State Bar Association and he has been continuously certified in the field of Workers’ Compensation Law since that time. He has been selected for inclusion in “Super Lawyers” every year since 2006 (2006 to 2024), and is AV rated “Preeminent” by Martindale Hubbell.
Chuck is licensed to practice law in Ohio and Texas and is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Ohio Association for Justice, and the State Bar of Texas. He is also admitted to practice law in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of Ohio, Northern District of Ohio, Southern District of Texas, U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit (Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky & Tennessee), and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Chuck proudly represents police officers injured in the course of their employment with the City of Columbus and with many other departments throughout Ohio; he is the brother of two former lieutenants of the Houston Police Department and is married to Julie, a former elementary school and performing arts teacher who is presently a licensed real estate agent. In his spare time, Chuck enjoys riding his Harley Davidson and Indian motorcycles, landscape photography, and spending time with family.
